A growing family looking for a larger home, an older couple downsizing when the kids leave home, for many years selling your home has been a pretty much straightforward process. In past years, all a seller had to do was contact an estate agent or realtor they trusted who would place an ad online on the relevant property portal, buyers would see the ad, call to make an appointment to view and all going well place an offer to buy the home. The reality is now that there are many homes on the market at every price level and differentiating those homes from others has become a real challenge. We created ShootHome® to provide an innovative and highly effective way of getting buyers through the door of a property with the ultimate goal of selling the home faster and for a higher price.
In mid 2010 I had a one bedroom property on the market which although at a great price, in a great location and beautifully staged was just was not selling. I decided to combine my own background in filmmaking (producing pop promos for bands such as Primal Scream), marketing consulting for some of the worlds best known property brands (Savills, Knight Frank) and my experience as a property developer (having developed several hundred homes) to create a short PropertyMovie™ of the home in order to encourage potential buyers through the door. Simply, the PropertyMovie™ worked. The property sold within a week as a direct result of a buyer watching the movie online and making a decision to come and see the home over the other dozen or so in the street.
In August 2010 ShootHome® was created and ShootHome.TV, a place where we could show the PropertyMovies™ by means of a simple web link from property portals was launched.
At the core of our growing company is a desire to help home owners and their agents sell properties quickly. For the estate agent or realtor it’s a win-win situation. Although some are worried showing the home will put people off (we just don’t agree) we’ve proven that having a ShootHome® PropertyMovies™ will get people through the door and lead to a sale if the property’s price is right. That’s why, and it’s exciting for us, that estate agents and realtors have started to offer our movies as part of their standard marketing package having seen the initial results for themselves, forming an excellent relationship between our respective companies.
As we grow and cross international borders, we find that there are common values within the people trying to sell homes and those helping them. From meeting the founder of a very well known online auction site selling a 15,000 square foot mansion in Silicon Valley to the businessman selling a rental home in London, a young couple moving on from a one bedroom flat in Edinburgh, all home sellers share a common goal; a desire to get the home sold and move on to the next stage of their life or business endeavours. To find a home for ourselves or family that meets the needs we have at any particular time is core to our being – at ShootHome®, our PropertyMovies™ let people find those homes easily and quickly making the whole process simpler and much more enjoyable for all concerned.
